Young owners Kristina and Matej Škerlj run a small-scale agrotourism farm and are continuing the tradition of their grandfathers in the village of Salež in the Trieste part of the Karst, just a hop, skip, and a jump from the seaside.
The Škerljs held their first “osmica” back in 1965, offering their specialties to eager guests. Today you can stop by their place for stays both short and long, enjoying yourself in one of their 3 rooms, which are furnished in the typical Karst style. Per agreement they will also serve you with homestyle food and wine. Their wine cellar, dug into the rock, is a friendly place for a tasting of wine and prosciutto and is primarily intended for aging the wine. The wine is made organically, just like the prosciutto, sausages, and other cured meats they produce. All of their wares are for purchase, and they also have fresh vegetables when in season.
